In 1915, San Francisco hosted the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, a world’s fair celebrating the grand opening of the Panama Canal and the city’s reconstruction after the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. The event hosted one of the most expansive art showcases in history with more than 11,000 works on display. In honor of the exposition’s centennial, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco have culled a sampling of about 175 works from the original exhibition.
