Horace Poolaw, Kiowa from Oklahoma, documented his people for 50 years beginning in the mid-1920s. The more than 200 images on view create an intimate portrait of Native life and its “American-ness,” showing Indian princesses, baseball teams, men in military uniforms, children as cowboys, parades, funerals, and cultural ceremonies.
